Drill Here and Drill NOW!!!!!!

FIRST… do you know what ANWR is?

ANWR = Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Now a comparison:

ANWR

And some perspective…

ANWR

NOTE WHERE THE PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT AREA IS… (It’s in the “ANWR Coastal Plain”)

ANWR

THIS IS WHAT THE DEMOCRATS, LIBERALS AND “GREENS” SHOW YOU WHEN THEY TALK ABOUT ANWR
…and they are right… these ARE photographs of ANWR

ANWR
ANWR
ANWR

ISN’T ANWR BEAUTIFUL? WHY SHOULD WE DRILL HERE (AND DESTROY) THIS BEAUTIFUL PLACE?

WELL… THAT’S NOT EXACTLY THE TRUTH

Do you remember the map? The map showed that the proposed drilling area is in the ANWR Coastal Plain. Do those photographs look like a coastal plain to you?

WHAT’S GOING ON IS SIMPLE…

THAT IS NOT WHERE THEY ARE WANTING TO DRILL!

THIS IS WHAT THE PROPOSED EXPLORATION AREA ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE IN THE WINTER:

ANWR

AND THIS IS WHAT IT ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE IN THE SUMMER:

ANWR
ANWR
ANWR

HERE ARE A COUPLE SCREEN SHOTS FROM GOOGLE EARTH

ANWR

ANWR

AS YOU CAN SEE, THE AREA WHERE THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT DRILLING IS A BARREN WASTELAND.

OH… AND THEY SAY THAT THEY ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THE EFFECT ON THE LOCAL WILDLIFE…

HERE IS A PHOTO (SHOT DURING THE SUMMER) OF THE “DEPLETED WILDLIFE” SITUATION CREATED BY DRILLING AROUND PRUDHOE BAY… DON’T YOU THINK THAT THE CARIBOU REALLY HATE THAT DRILLING?

ANWR

HERE’S THAT SAME SPOT DURING THE WINTER.

ANWR

HEY, THIS BEAR SEEMS TO REALLY HATE THE PIPELINE NEAR PRUDHOE BAY…

ANWR

*The Prudhoe Bay area accounts for 17% of U.S. domestic oil production

NOW, WHY DO YOU THINK THAT THE DEMOCRATS ARE LYING ABOUT ANWR?

REMEMBER WHEN AL GORE SAID THAT THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD WORK TO ARTIFICIALLY RAISE GAS PRICES TO $5.00 A GALLON? WELL…
AL GORE AND HIS FELLOW DEMOCRATS HAVE ALMOST REACHED THEIR GOAL!

NOW THAT YOU KNOW THAT THE GREEN LIBS BEEN LYING, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?

Look, folks. The point of this is to inform. We have more than enough petroleum resources in this country to meet our demand for supply at a much lower cost than we pay OPEC nations. And don’t buy into the argument that if will take 8-10 years for us to access the oil. That is a high exaggeration. We may not be able to meet the impatient demands of our “instant gratification” society tomorrow. But it will be soon enough for us to reap the benefits within a short time. And even if it took 10 years, doesn’t it seem logical that we need to start right away?

Yes, we should continue to find alternatives that are better for everything all around, but shouldn’t we at least use the resources that we do have. I am sick to death of depending on other countries for resources when WE HAVE THEM!!!!! It seems that the democrats and liberals WANT us to be enslaved to the various world markets so it will bolster the continued need for a more powerful world government.

DRILL HERE AND DRILL NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Thanks, Lumpy!)

You, my uneducated friend, are the worst kind of idiot. Typical U.S.A.ian, war-mongering, bible-thumping selfish zealot. Do the world a favor and do not procreate. Also, congratulations on your first comment. Yes, I actually read your so-called 'article'.

Okay, Johnny. It's amazing how the left simply tries to attack what they don't know instead of providing viable arguments or even a spirited debate.

Are you familiar with my education level to claim I am uneducated?

Are you familiar with my position on American military action or involvement?

And while I do not thump the bible, I do read it and believe in it as well as the God it promulgates.

As far as me being selfish, I'm not sure where you are coming from to make that argument. In the context of the article, in which I am glad you did read, I understand that oil is a world commodity and that it would become a part of the supply of the world. To withhold a resource from our citizens as well as the world when we can supply it is selfish. The fact is that the US actually EXPORTS oil. That doesn't make since when we don't produce as much as we logically and ecologically can.

I do believe that this nation as well as the rest of the world MUST eventually find a different way to fuel our society. I am all for hydro, solar, wind, etc. But I am also for utilizing what we have to provide our society its needs.

As far as calling em a zealot? I won't claim that title because I am not sure you truly knwo what a zealot is.

Thanks for the first comment on this.

And by the way, I have already procreated and she feels pretty much the same way I do.

Just thought i'd add in about that part where you said, Yes, we should continue to find alternatives that are better for everything all around, but shouldn’t we at least use the resources that we do have. I am sick to death of depending on other countries for resources when WE HAVE THEM!!!!! It seems that the democrats and liberals WANT us to be enslaved to the various world markets so it will bolster the continued need for a more powerful world government." That actually if we decided to drill right now not one drop of oil would come from the Refuge for ten years. And even at its peak production-20 years from now- it will reduce our reliance by only 4% on the world's oil reserves. We have only 3% of the world's oil reserves yet we consume 25% of the worlds oil. There is simply no way that we can drill our way to "energy independence." I just think it really is unimportant to go up there and risk, even the tiniest amount for only a 4% increase in our self-reliance. I think money could be better spent looking at alternative fuel. But that's just my argument.

Anonymous,

We HAD the chance to Drill in ANWR in 1996 but Clinton vetoed it. Otherwise, we'd be swimming in oil from ANWR....since 2006. Funny how that coincides with the huge rise is gas prices. And ANWR isn't the only place to drill in this country. There are plenty of locations STILL in the CONUS that have access to usable oil but aren't allowed to be because the government has restricted it for some reason or the other. Plus there is off-shore drilling drilling that would drastically affect our supply. But my point wasn't just about ANWR or oil in general. Yes, Drill her and Drill now but build nuclear power plants, Geothermal harnesses, Hydro-electric dams, Go for more natural gas and coal. Even get the Biomass wave going. But since only about 40% of our population uses petroleum and just under 1% use Solar energy. So just because we'd only benefit a decade from now and it would only yield an extra per cent increase is oil reserves (stats I strongly disagree with even though your stats regard ANWR only), it's not an excuse NOT to DRILL HERE AND DRILL NOW.
