This should cover just about everyone

To my liberal, unsaved, non-Christian friends:

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2009, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures. Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee.

Sometimes I Resent Christmas

Glory be to God in the highest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two thousand years ago, God came to earth in the form of a baby to save the world. The Infinite became finite. Thirty three years after he was born, he was tortured and killed to take on the punishment for the sins of all.....past, present and future!

Instead of us cherishing that most important gift or helping to share that gift, our lives get filled up with a material thing to get for someone. Or even worse, we actually get concerned with what we are going to get for Christmas.

Sometimes I resent Christmas!!!!!!!!!

Instead of us cherishing that most important gift or helping to share that gift, we fill our hearts and minds full of the "magic" of the season.

Sometimes I resent Christmas!!!!!!!!!

Instead of us cherishing that most important gift or helping to share that gift, we openly deny God's grace in our lives in favor of focusing on trees, lights, colors, taking time off from work and/or school, candy and cookies, making a big dinner, etc.

The main reason why I sometimes resent Christmas?

I am shamefully and wretchedly guilty as well!

I have seen and heard so many people focus of trying to make each Christmas the most wonderful experience or perfect Christmas yet. THERE IS NO WAY TO ACHEIVE A PERFECT CHRISTMAS in this day and age. Nor is there any reason to even try. The most perfect Christmas already happened...two thousand years ago. There were no lighted trees, grand meals, or even Santa Claus. There was just a precious Advent from God in the form of a baby that would grow into a man who loved and loved and loved.

When you look at your Christmas decorations, or eat a wonderful Christmas dinner, or relish in some fun times this and every Christmas, remember to be able to put all that behind you in favor of accepting and sharing the most wonderful, glorious thing about Christmas.........JESUS CHRIST.

Charity or Laziness?

Just what is charity?

And what is it really in this day and age?

I was brought up to believe that charity starts from within the heart and that, as the bible teaches, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35)

So what is going on with stuff like this?



Don't get me wrong. I think that what this guy has set up is great!

As described in the video, When you click on a retailer, one cent gets donated to a charity organization of your choice.

Great job! Someone else did the work and donating for you. You didn’t have to do anything but click a mouse. That’s not charity, that’s an easy way out so you don’t actually have to be charitable.

While I truly think that these links are very worthwhile and do a great deal of good, they rob each of us the chance to truly be charitable and give from the heart.

When we see the Salvation Army folks ringing their bells, do we now expect someone to put money in the buckets for us?

When we get dinner at a fast food restaurant, and see the jars collecting for the March of Dimes or Jerry’s Kids or a similar charity, do we tell the cashier to put their money in because we ate there?

Essentially, charity has now followed the trend of just about every other event we participate in. It allows and even encourages laziness.

Please do use GoodShearch and GoodShop so that money will be donated to worthwhile causes from their linked retailers. But, don’t stop there. Put the money in the jars and buckets. Find a charity to give to and sacrifice your money and time to give. Volunteer to help a charity or fill a community need.

Give something that costs YOU something. That is what truly charity is.

We have always been a Christian nation

RESOLUTION
Affirming the rich spiritual and religious history of our Nation's founding and subsequent history and expressing support for designation of the first week in May as `American Religious History Week' for the appreciation of and education on America's history of religious faith.
Whereas religious faith was not only important in official American life during the periods of discovery, exploration, colonization, and growth but has also been acknowledged and incorporated into all 3 branches of American Federal government from their very beginning;
Whereas the Supreme Court of the United States affirmed this self-evident fact in a unanimous ruling declaring `This is a religious people ... From the discovery of this continent to the present hour, there is a single voice making this affirmation';
Whereas political scientists have documented that the most frequently-cited source in the political period known as The Founding Era was the Bible;
Whereas the first act of America's first Congress in 1774 was to ask a minister to open with prayer and to lead Congress in the reading of 4 chapters of the Bible;
Whereas Congress regularly attended church and Divine service together en masse;
Whereas throughout the American Founding, Congress frequently appropriated money for missionaries and for religious instruction, a practice that Congress repeated for decades after the passage of the Constitution and the First Amendment;
Whereas in 1776, Congress approved the Declaration of Independence with its 4 direct religious acknowledgments referring to God as the Creator (`All people are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness'), the Lawgiver (`the laws of nature and nature's God'), the Judge (`appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world'), and the Protector (`with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence');
Whereas upon approving the Declaration of Independence, John Adams declared that the Fourth of July `ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty';
Whereas 4 days after approving the Declaration, the Liberty Bell was rung;
Whereas the Liberty Bell was named for the Biblical inscription from Leviticus 25:10 emblazoned around it: `Proclaim liberty throughout the land, to all the inhabitants thereof';
Whereas in 1777, Congress, facing a National shortage of `Bibles for our schools, and families, and for the public worship of God in our churches,' announced that they `desired to have a Bible printed under their care & by their encouragement' and therefore ordered 20,000 copies of the Bible to be imported `into the different ports of the States of the Union';
Whereas in 1782, Congress pursued a plan to print a Bible that would be `a neat edition of the Holy Scriptures for the use of schools' and therefore approved the production of the first English language Bible printed in America that contained the congressional endorsement that `the United States in Congress assembled ... recommend this edition of the Bible to the inhabitants of the United States';
Whereas in 1782, Congress adopted (and has reaffirmed on numerous subsequent occasions) the National Seal with its Latin motto `Annuit Coeptis,' meaning `God has favored our undertakings,' along with the eye of Providence in a triangle over a pyramid, the eye and the motto `allude to the many signal interpositions of Providence in favor of the American cause';
Whereas the 1783 Treaty of Paris that officially ended the Revolution and established America as an independent begins with the appellation `In the name of the most holy and undivided Trinity';
Whereas in 1787 at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, Benjamin Franklin declared, `God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? ... Without His concurring aid, we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel';
Whereas the delegates to the Constitutional Convention concluded their work by in effect placing a religious punctuation mark at the end of the Constitution in the Attestation Clause, noting not only that they had completed the work with `the unanimous consent of the States present' but they had done so `in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven';
Whereas James Madison declared that he saw the finished Constitution as a product of `the finger of that Almighty Hand which has been so frequently and signally extended to our relief in the critical stages of the Revolution,' and George Washington viewed it as `little short of a miracle,' and Benjamin Franklin believed that its writing had been `influenced, guided, and governed by that omnipotent, omnipresent, and beneficent Ruler, in Whom all inferior spirits live, and move, and have their being';

Whereas from 1787 to 1788, State conventions to ratify the United States Constitution not only began with prayer but even met in church buildings;
Whereas in 1795 during construction of the Capitol, a practice was instituted whereby `public worship is now regularly administered at the Capitol, every Sunday morning, at 11 o'clock';
Whereas in 1789, the first Federal Congress, the Congress that framed the Bill of Rights, including the First Amendment, appropriated Federal funds to pay chaplains to pray at the opening of all sessions, a practice that has continued to this day, with Congress not only funding its congressional chaplains but also the salaries and operations of more than 4,500 military chaplains;
Whereas in 1789, Congress, in the midst of framing the Bill of Rights and the First Amendment, passed the first Federal law touching education, declaring that `Religion, morality, and knowledge, being necessary to good government and the happiness of mankind, schools and the means of education shall forever be encouraged';
Whereas in 1789, on the same day that Congress finished drafting the First Amendment, it requested President Washington to declare a National day of prayer and thanksgiving, resulting in the first Federal official Thanksgiving proclamation that declared `it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor';
Whereas in 1800, Congress enacted naval regulations requiring that Divine service be performed twice every day aboard `all ships and vessels in the navy,' with a sermon preached each Sunday;
Whereas in 1800, Congress approved the use of the just-completed Capitol structure as a church building, with Divine services to be held each Sunday in the Hall of the House, alternately administered by the House and Senate chaplains;
Whereas in 1853 Congress declared that congressional chaplains have a `duty ... to conduct religious services weekly in the Hall of the House of Representatives';
Whereas by 1867, the church at the Capitol was the largest church in Washington, DC, with up to 2,000 people a week attending Sunday service in the Hall of the House;
Whereas by 1815, over 2,000 official governmental calls to prayer had been issued at both the State and the Federal levels, with thousands more issued since 1815;
Whereas in 1853 the United States Senate declared that the Founding Fathers `had no fear or jealousy of religion itself, nor did they wish to see us an irreligious people ... they did not intend to spread over all the public authorities and the whole public action of the nation the dead and revolting spectacle of atheistical apathy';
Whereas in 1854 the United States House of Representatives declared `It [religion] must be considered as the foundation on which the whole structure rests ... Christianity; in its general principles, is the great conservative element on which we must rely for the purity and permanence of free institutions';
Whereas, in 1864, by law Congress added `In God We Trust' to American coinage;

Whereas in 1864, Congress passed an act authorizing each State to display statues of 2 of its heroes in the United States Capitol, resulting in numerous statues of noted Christian clergymen and leaders at the Capitol, including Gospel ministers such as the Revs. James A. Garfield, John Peter Muhlenberg, Jonathan Trumbull, Roger Williams, Jason Lee, Marcus Whitman, and Martin Luther King Jr.; Gospel theologians such as Roger Sherman; Catholic priests such as Father Damien, Jacques Marquette, Eusebio Kino, and Junipero Serra; Catholic nuns such as Mother Joseph; and numerous other religious leaders;
Whereas in 1870, the Federal government made Christmas (a recognition of the birth of Christ, an event described by the U.S. Supreme Court as `acknowledged in the Western World for 20 centuries, and in this country by the people, the Executive Branch, Congress, and the courts for 2 centuries') and Thanksgiving as official holidays;
Whereas beginning in 1904 and continuing for the next half-century, the Federal government printed and distributed The Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazareth for the use of Members of Congress because of the important teachings it contained;
Whereas in 1931, Congress by law adopted the Star-Spangled Banner as the official National Anthem, with its phrases such as `may the Heav'n-rescued land Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation,' and `this be our motto, `In God is our trust!';
Whereas in 1954, Congress by law added the phrase `one nation under God' to the Pledge of Allegiance;
Whereas in 1954 a special Congressional Prayer Room was added to the Capitol with a kneeling bench, an altar, an open Bible, an inspiring stained-glass window with George Washington kneeling in prayer, the declaration of Psalm 16:1: `Preserve me, O God, for in Thee do I put my trust,' and the phrase `This Nation Under God' displayed above the kneeling, prayerful Washington;
Whereas in 1956, Congress by law made `In God We Trust' the National Motto, and added the phrase to American currency;
Whereas the constitutions of each of the 50 states, either in the preamble or body, explicitly recognize or express gratitude to God;
Whereas America's first Presidential Inauguration incorporated 7 specific religious activities, including--
(1) the use of the Bible to administer the oath;
(2) affirming the religious nature of the oath by the adding the prayer `So help me God!' to the oath;
(3) inaugural prayers offered by the President;
(4) religious content in the inaugural address;
(5) civil leaders calling the people to prayer or acknowledgement of God;
(6) inaugural worship services attended en masse by Congress as an official part of congressional activities; and
(7) clergy-led inaugural prayers, activities which have been replicated in whole or part by every subsequent President;
Whereas President George Washington declared `Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports';
Whereas President John Adams, one of only 2 signers of the Bill of Rights and First Amendment, declared `As the safety and prosperity of nations ultimately and essentially depend on the protection and the blessing of Almighty God, and the national acknowledgment of this truth is not only an indispensable duty which the people owe to Him';
Whereas President Jefferson not only attended Divine services at the Capitol throughout his presidency and had the Marine Band play at the services, but during his administration church services were also begun in the War Department and the Treasury Department, thus allowing worshippers on any given Sunday the choice to attend church at either the United States Capitol, the War Department, or the Treasury Department if they so desired;
Whereas Thomas Jefferson urged local governments to make land available specifically for Christian purposes, provided Federal funding for missionary work among Indian tribes, and declared that religious schools would receive `the patronage of the government';
Whereas President Andrew Jackson declared that the Bible `is the rock on which our Republic rests';
Whereas President Abraham Lincoln declared that the Bible `is the best gift God has given to men ... But for it, we could not know right from wrong'
Whereas President William McKinley declared that `Our faith teaches us that there is no safer reliance than upon the God of our fathers, Who has so singularly favored the American people in every national trial and Who will not forsake us so long as we obey His commandments and walk humbly in His footsteps';
Whereas President Teddy Roosevelt declared `The Decalogue and the Golden Rule must stand as the foundation of every successful effort to better either our social or our political life';
Whereas President Woodrow Wilson declared that `America was born to exemplify that devotion to the elements of righteousness which are derived from the revelations of Holy Scripture';
Whereas President Herbert Hoover declared that `American life is builded, and can alone survive, upon ... [the] fundamental philosophy announced by the Savior nineteen centuries ago';
Whereas President Franklin D. Roosevelt not only led the Nation in a 6 minute prayer during D-Day on June 6, 1944, but he also declared that `If we will not prepare to give all that we have and all that we are to preserve Christian civilization in our land, we shall go to destruction';
Whereas President Harry S. Truman declared that `The fundamental basis of this Nation's law was given to Moses on the Mount. The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from the teachings which we get from Exodus and St. Matthew, from Isaiah and St. Paul';

Whereas President Harry S. Truman told a group touring Washington, DC, that `You will see, as you make your rounds, that this Nation was established by men who believed in God. ... You will see the evidence of this deep religious faith on every hand';
Whereas President Dwight D. Eisenhower declared that `Without God there could be no American form of government, nor an American way of life. Recognition of the Supreme Being is the first, the most basic, expression of Americanism. Thus, the founding fathers of America saw it, and thus with God's help, it will continue to be' in a declaration later repeated with approval by President Gerald Ford;
Whereas President John F. Kennedy declared that `The rights of man come not from the generosity of the state but from the hand of God';
Whereas President Ronald Reagan, after noting `The Congress of the United States, in recognition of the unique contribution of the Bible in shaping the history and character of this Nation and so many of its citizens, has ... requested the President to designate the year 1983 as the `Year of the Bible',' officially declared 1983 as `The Year of the Bible';
Whereas every other President has similarly recognized the role of God and religious faith in the public life of America;
Whereas all sessions of the United States Supreme Court begin with the Court's Marshal announcing, `God save the United States and this honorable court';
Whereas a regular and integral part of official activities in the Federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court, was the inclusion of prayer by a minister of the Gospel;
Whereas the United States Supreme Court has declared throughout the course of our Nation's history that the United States is `a Christian country', `a Christian nation', `a Christian people', `a religious people whose institutions presuppose a Supreme Being', and that `we cannot read into the Bill of Rights a philosophy of hostility to religion';
Whereas Justice John Jay, an author of the Federalist Papers and original Justice of the United States Supreme Court, urged `The most effectual means of securing the continuance of our civil and religious liberties is always to remember with reverence and gratitude the Source from which they flow';
Whereas Justice James Wilson, a signer of the Constitution, declared that `Human law must rest its authority ultimately upon the authority of that law which is Divine ... Far from being rivals or enemies, religion and law are twin sisters, friends, and mutual assistants';
Whereas Justice William Paterson, a signer of the Constitution, declared that `Religion and morality ... [are] necessary to good government, good order, and good laws';
Whereas President George Washington, who passed into law the first legal acts organizing the Federal judiciary, asked, `where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths in the courts of justice?';
Whereas some of the most important monuments, buildings, and landmarks in Washington, DC, include religious words, symbols, and imagery;
Whereas in the United States Capitol the declaration `In God We Trust' is prominently displayed in both the United States House and Senate Chambers;
Whereas around the top of the walls in the House Chamber appear images of 23 great lawgivers from across the centuries, but Moses (the lawgiver, who--according to the Bible--originally received the law from God,) is the only lawgiver honored with a full face view, looking down on the proceedings of the House;
Whereas religious artwork is found throughout the United States Capitol, including in the Rotunda where the prayer service of Christopher Columbus, the Baptism of Pocahontas, and the prayer and Bible study of the Pilgrims are all prominently displayed; in the Cox Corridor of the Capitol where the words `America! God shed His grace on thee' are inscribed; at the east Senate entrance with the words `Annuit Coeptis' which is Latin for `God has favored our undertakings'; and in numerous other locations;
Whereas images of the Ten Commandments are found in many Federal buildings across Washington, DC, including in bronze in the floor of the National Archives; in a bronze statue of Moses in the Main Reading Room of the Library of Congress; in numerous locations at the U.S. Supreme Court, including in the frieze above the Justices, the oak door at the rear of the Chamber, the gable apex, and in dozens of locations on the bronze latticework surrounding the Supreme Court Bar seating;
Whereas in the Washington Monument not only are numerous Bible verses and religious acknowledgements carved on memorial blocks in the walls, including the phrases: `Holiness to the Lord' (Exodus 28:26, 30:30, Isaiah 23:18, Zechariah 14:20), `Search the Scriptures' (John 5:39), `The memory of the just is blessed' (Proverbs 10:7), `May Heaven to this Union continue its beneficence', and `In God We Trust', but the Latin inscription Laus Deo meaning `Praise be to God' is engraved on the monument's capstone;
Whereas of the 5 areas inside the Jefferson Memorial into which Jefferson's words have been carved, 4 are God-centered, including Jefferson's declaration that `God who gave us life gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that His justice cannot sleep forever';
Whereas the Lincoln Memorial contains numerous acknowledgments of God and citations of Bible verses, including the declarations that `we here highly resolve that ... this nation under God ... shall not perish from the earth'; `The Almighty has His own purposes. `Woe unto the world because of offenses; for it must needs be that offenses come, but woe to that man by whom the offense cometh' (Matthew 18:7); `as was said three thousand years ago, so still it must be said `the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether' (Psalms 19:9); `one day every valley shall be exalted and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh see it togetherÌ (Dr. Martin Luther KingÌs speech, based on Isaiah 40:4-5);
Whereas in the Library of Congress, The Giant Bible of Mainz, and The Gutenberg Bible are on prominent permanent display and etched on the walls are Bible verses, including: `The light shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehendeth it not' (John 1:5); `Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom and with all thy getting, get understanding' (Proverbs 4:7); `What doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God' (Micah 6:8); and `The heavens declare the Glory of God, and the firmament showeth His handiwork' (Psalm 19:1);
Whereas numerous other of the most important American government leaders, institutions, monuments, buildings, and landmarks both openly acknowledge and incorporate religious words, symbols, and imagery into official venues;
Whereas such acknowledgments are even more frequent at the State and local level than at the Federal level, where thousands of such acknowledgments exist; and
Whereas the first week in May each year would be an appropriate week to designate as `American Religious History Week': Now, therefore, be it
Resolved, That the United States House of Representatives----
(1) affirms the rich spiritual and diverse religious history of our Nation's founding and subsequent history, including up to the current day;
(2) recognizes that the religious foundations of faith on which America was built are critical underpinnings of our Nation's most valuable institutions and form the inseparable foundation for America's representative processes, legal systems, and societal structures;
(3) rejects, in the strongest possible terms, any effort to remove, obscure, or purposely omit such history from our Nation's public buildings and educational resources; and
(4) expresses support for designation of a `American Religious History Week' every year for the appreciation of and education on America's history of religious faith.

It's Time To Stop Wasting Time!!!

Well, it just ain’t Harlem voters that were ill informed.

John Ziegler, a former libertarian talk radio show host in LA, has been doing documentary and interview videos for Citizens United. He recently made an appearance on FNC’s Hannity and Colmes to talk about his new upcoming video, "Media Malpractice... How Obama Got Elected" featured at the website: HowObamaGotElected.com




The information he presented coincided with a Zogby Poll which described the following results:

512 Obama Voters questioned from 11/13/08-11/15/08 with a Margin of Error of +/- 4.4 points

Educational Demographics - 97.1% High School Graduate or higher, 55% College Graduates

Results to simple Multiple Choice Questions

57.4% could NOT correctly say which party controls congress (50/50 shot just by guessing)
81.8% could NOT correctly say Joe Biden quit a previous campaign because of plagiarism (25% chance by guessing)
82.6% could NOT correctly say that Barack Obama won his first election by getting opponents kicked off the ballot (25% chance by guessing)
88.4% could NOT correctly say that Obama said his policies would likely bankrupt the coal industry and make energy rates skyrocket (25% chance by guessing)
56.1% could NOT correctly say Obama started his political career at the home of two former members of the Weather Underground (25% chance by guessing).

And yet.....

Only 13.7% failed to identify Sarah Palin as the person on which their party spent $150,000 in clothes
Only 6.2% failed to identify Palin as the one with a pregnant teenage daughter
And 86.9 % thought that Palin said that she could see Russia from her "house," even though that was Tina Fey who actually said that!!

Only 2.4% got at least 11 correct.

A lot of people want to blame the voters for not getting informed, but I blame two groups:
- The main stream media which was overwhelmingly in the tank for Obama and did not give unbiased new reporting
- The INFORMED voters

I do believe that there were Obama voters who did know the issues and voted on him because of those issues. However, based on the Stern video as well as other factors, including the majority of news outlets who blatantly favored Obama, activist groups like MoveOn.org and ACORN, contemptuous bloggers at the Daily KOS and the Huffington Post, etc., it is very clear that the majority of people who voted did not have an informed grasp of the candidates or the campaign issues.

Because of those factors, the real blame falls on us, the informed voters of this nation. A lot of us did get out there to try and help educate people (our good friend SNOOPER comes to mind); more of us joined the various political action committees to help with education, but most of us blogged and did our best from behind the computers we used. AND THAT IS THE PROBLEM!

We can blog all we want, but unless we actually interact with people, they aren’t just going to login and read stuff at Hot Air or Powerline.

There is such a culture of fuzzy lies out there that people just don’t know what to believe anymore when it comes to politics.

George Washington had it dead on correct when he said, “Promote then, as an object of primary importance, Institutions for the general diffusion of knowledge. In proportion as the structure of a government gives force to public opinion, it is essential that public opinion should be enlightened."

Our nation’s public opinion has been kidnapped, raped and murdered by those with an agenda that is not in the best interest of America, and by God’s will of His majestic grace, it is time that the people of this nation take it back.

We have got to convince our fellow Americans that “We the people” means the ones who do the voting, not the elites in the media, on Wall Street or in the respective governments of this nation. When someone has the courage to run for public office, and if they are granted the will of the people to be elected or appointed to that office, then it is to the people they owe their allegiances and it is the people to whom they serve!

We can start now, or we can waste our time complaining about why our guy lost and wait until the next primary season to promulgate truth and facts to the people of this nation.

Don’t wait for the candidates or their campaigns or even the PACs to spread the word. Get out there among your friends and neighbors and start campaigning for America’s future now. Help give them the tools they need to make an informed decision at election time. That way, even if the other guy wins again, at least it will be because people voted the issues and their conscience and NOT because they fell in love with an IDOL and couldn’t tell us about the candidate, the running mate or their opponents or the issues.

It’s time for us to do our part for America’s future and our fellow Americans!

It’s time for us to lead a new revolution to take back what has wrongly been taken from us!

It’s time for us to let the people in power know that their power is fleeting and is predicated on what WE say and do!

It’s time for us to bypass a recent campaign slogan and truly put COUNTRY FIRST!

It’s time for us to realize that it is up to US to live up to our rights of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness!”

It’s time for us to stop following the trends of this world and lead the world in truth and justice!

It’s time for us to stop taking notice of how wrong everyone else is and start standing up for what is right so that others will take notice!

It’s time for us to help every American understand again that the government of this nation is truly of the people, by the people and for the people!

It's because we make it about us

In my men’s bible study group, we studied is 1 Samuel. And as much as this lesson is about me and you personally rejecting God as king, I also saw another parallel.

Israel Demands a King (1 Samuel 8:4-22)

Then all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah, and said to him, “… [M]ake us a king to judge us like all the nations.”

But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, “Give us a king to judge us.” So Samuel prayed to the LORD. And the LORD said to Samuel, “Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them. According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt, even to this day—with which they have forsaken Me and served other gods—so they are doing to you also. Now therefore, heed their voice. However, you shall solemnly forewarn them, and show them the behavior of the king who will reign over them.”

So Samuel told all the words of the LORD to the people who asked him for a king. And he said, “This will be the behavior of the king who will reign over you: He will take your sons and appoint them for his own chariots and to be his horsemen, and some will run before his chariots. He will appoint captains over his thousands and captains over his fifties, will set some to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and some to make his weapons of war and equipment for his chariots. He will take your daughters to be perfumers, cooks, and bakers. And he will take the best of your fields, your vineyards, and your olive groves, and give them to his servants. He will take a tenth of your grain and your vintage, and give it to his officers and servants. And he will take your male servants, your female servants, your finest young men, and your donkeys, and put them to his work. He will take a tenth of your sheep. And you will be his servants. And you will cry out in that day because of your king whom you have chosen for yourselves, and the LORD will not hear you in that day.”

Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, “No, but we will have a king over us, that we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles.”

And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he repeated them in the hearing of the LORD. So the LORD said to Samuel, “Heed their voice, and make them a king.”


God predicted that there would be kings over Israel ~ (Gen. 35:11; 36:31; 49:10; Num. 24:7–9, 17; Deut. 17:14; 28:36).

Israel rejected God in favor of and earthly king

Samuel knew what having an earthly king would mean. Samuel obeyed the Lord by describing the behavior of a human king. A king would:
1) draft young men and women for his service
2) tax the people’s crops and flocks
3) appropriate the best of their animals and servants
4) place limitations on their personal freedom

And yet the people STILL wanted a king so they could be like the other nations around them who had a king.

AND THEY GOT ONE.


Does any of that seem familiar?

America has forsaken God in favor of idols. And most recently, for an idol who has proclaimed “hope and change.”

But more specifically, look at the four points Samuel used to describe what a king would do:

1) draft young men and women for his service – National Civilian Security Force
2) tax the people’s crops and flocks – Raising of taxes
3) appropriate the best of their animals and servants – Socialism
4) place limitations on their personal freedom – Religion, speech, et al

Why don’t we just listen to God anymore?

Chill Out, Fellow Christians! God Is Still In Control.

The following is influenced from something I watched on ”Wretched with Todd Friel”


Okay, so the election is over. The popular and the electoral votes show that Barack Obama is the presumptive president-elect (Presumptive because the electors haven’t actually cast there votes yet. And there are still also some factors that have to work themselves out legally). Yet there are still conservatives and Christians who are going nuts because a pro-abortion, Marxist candidate was elected. And it’s not the whiney “my guy lost” or “he stole the election” groans we heard in 2000. Christians are really wondering with great concern where this country will morally go with such a lefty in the Oval Office.

It’s time to chill out, folks! We had our chance to nominate a conservative candidate and elect a conservative president and it didn’t happen. Furthermore, we Christians know that God is in control and is sovereign over this world. Therefore, it is God who elected Barack Obama through the electorate.

But why would God elect a pro-abortion, socialist candidate?

We have to go to the bible for answers:

Submit to Government
“Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake. For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very thing. Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.” – Romans 13:1-7

“[A]uthorities that exist are appointed by God.”
“[W]hoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God.”
“[H]e is God’s minister to you for good.”

Should the electors fulfill their roles and vote the way they were selected, Barack Obama will be an existing authority “appointed by God” And whoever resists that authority, “resists the ordinance of God.” Obama will be “God’s minister to [us] for good.”

YES, Barack Obama is a minister appointed by God and we should respect him in that office, along with his presidency, because he has been put in place by God to protect good people who are trying to keep the laws and punish bad people. Like you, I am having trouble understanding how this fits Obama, but it is what God has done.

Even though Christians didn’t get the candidate they wanted (and I’ll touch base on that further on), we need to behave much better than the liberals did when George W. Bush was elected in 2000. We should, of course, be cautious of the issues and actions of the elected, but we should not insult Barack Obama or his election as president because when we do that, we insult God (Romans 13:2).

God puts leaders in place for His purpose:

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” - Romans 8:28

And yet, the question still begs to be asked. WHY WOULD GOD ELECT A MAN SEEMINGLY SO UNCHRISTIAN AS BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA? I say this with the understanding that the example of a true Christian is the fruit of his salvation. Barack Obama, by supporting abortion and the tolerance of other immoralities, isn’t exhibiting the fruits of true salvation.

The Answer:

I have no idea why God put Obama in office. I don’t have a clue. But then it’s not for me or you to know anyway. God is the one who has the answers and it is He who makes the decisions.

“The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.” - Deuteronomy 29:29

John MacArthur explains it this way. “[T]hat which is hidden only can refer to the specific way in which God will carry out His will in the future, which is revealed in His Word and completed in His great work of salvation, in spite of the apostasy of His people.”

We cannot specifically say why God elected Barack Obama. But here are some options:

1. To Bring Judgment – maybe on you or me. Maybe on some other people in this nation. Maybe on the nation as a whole. America certainly hasn’t been honoring God in its tolerance of immoral actions and attitudes. With Obama, more abortions may happen and morals may continue to go south, but the reality is that this should remind us of our theology that we have an Adamic nature… a sinful nature… and God can bring judgment on us at any time in any way for HIS purpose and it is right and good. It may be tough to understand but it is truth.
2. To Raise Up Another Nation – God’s patience with America may have run out. If he can regret creating man (Genesis 6:6), then he can certainly regret starting a nation who has slipped so far away from honoring Him. There are other people around this world whose growth in Christ exponentially glorifies God more than any Christian or church in America. Maybe God sees fit to let that nation rise and give them a chance by getting America out of the way..
3. To Tear Down Idols. A lot of Christians have been putting their hope in politics and politicians lately to lead in a Christian way. And of course we should hope to elect those who desire to glorify God, but it is US who should be leading in a Christian way. For us to depend on politicians to do it for us is idolatry. When Christians get behind a candidate, they presume that the candidate is going to be the all and have all the answers to meet their “Christian” needs. WRONG!!! God is the One who we should look to for our needs, not any man.
4. To Cleanse the Church – Maybe God is going to allow persecution of Christians to happen. American Christians haven’t been living by what they preach to others and God may be trying to cleanse that poison from His people. There are so many who claim Christ and yet dishonor God by the way they live. They claim Christ, but don’t follow His example. They claim Christ, but don’t take seriously the Greatest Commandment (Matthew 22:37), the Golden Rule (Matthew 22:39), or the Great Commission *Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 1:8).

Whatever the reason Barack Obama was elected by God, we should not have angst because God is the one in control. So before we continue to freak out over the election, we need to get our theology straight and our worldview cleared up.

Instead of us looking at how Obama doesn’t add up as a Christian, maybe we should look at ourselves first to see if we are honoring God… THEN we can make that judgment on Obama (Yes, the bible does allow Christians to proclaim God’s judgment on others because God does demand the exercise of moral and theological discernment – John 7:24. But we must also remember that we must also deal with our own sin before we proclaim another’s – Luke 6:41-42).

There are conservatives who are not Christian who have asked Christians why they believe God would allow Obama to be president. And then the topic turns to the obligatory “Why does evil happen?”

God did decree us to evil as a part of His eternal plan. He did NOT bring it into existence. Evil is not the diametrical opposite to good, like cold to heat and dark to light. There is only a measurable level of heat or light and thus only a measurable level of good. But God is the one who sets that standard. And we certainly can’t meet that standard. Compare Exodus 20:3-17 with Matthew 5:17-48. They are the same message from the same God. But God was able to express the standard more thoroughly in Matthew 5.

So, why does God allow evil to happen?
1. So He can demonstrate His grace and salvation
2. So He can demonstrate His wrath in judgment.
3. So he can finally destroy it.

God allows evil like He allows so many other things we don’t understand… for His glory. We deserve so much worse than we get in this world because we are a wretched people who take pride in dishonoring God, and so when we wake up in the morning and aren’t in hell, it’s a good day…no matter how bad it seems to us.

So, if you are still flabbergasted by the election results, here are ten reasons why you shouldn’t be.

1. The Bible will still have all the answers – It is divinely inspired, divinely inerrant, and divinely sufficient to reveal to us how we should be living and loving,
2. Prayer will still work – God will always answer prayer in His way according to His sovereign will… just like He always has.
3. The Holy Spirit will still move – Remember that we Christians are inhabited by the Holy Spirit and since He lives in us, we will be moved to honor God for our good.
4. God inhabits the praises of His people – We shouldn’t stop praising God just because a liberal is in the White House. In fact, we should praise Him more to show our love and devotion to Him above all others. He will bless us in His way.
5. There is still God-anointed preaching – Amen! I heard some of it this past Sunday and expect to continue to hear it after January 20th, 2009.
6. There will still be singing of praise to God – Even if we don’t do it, the angels are and the bible says that if man won’t then the rocks and trees will cry out in praise of God.
7. God still pours out blessing upon His people – We should continue to be who God calls us to be and the blessings will pour in abundance.
8. There is still room at the cross – God provided a place for sin to be dealt with once and for all and we Christians should be sharing that whenever and wherever we can.
9. Jesus will still love you – We Christians should NEVER forget this. His love is eternal.
10. Jesus will still save the lost - Hallelujah! That is why God became a man after all… to seek and save the lost.

Where do we go from here?

We Christians should be living by the Word. Yes, we should be evangelizing to share the Gospel. But as long as we have people who proclaim Christ but don’t exhibit Christ, we won’t be taken seriously.

People will obviously believe what they see above what they hear, so we Christians need to make sure our actions match our words.

So stop your bellyaching and worrying about President-Elect Obama, Christians and get on your knees and then get out there into the world for His glory!

Congratulations Mr. President-elect!

Congratulations Mr. President-elect!

I am, of course, reluctant to accept that someone so different in political ideology from me has been elected to the highest post in the world.

However, as much as I decry an Obama presidency, I also celebrate this great nation. The people voted, the populace chose, the constitutionality of the Electoral College (even though not expedited yet), will be fulfilled. And a new leader of the free world, commander-in-chief, high executive has been called to service in the most peaceful transfer of governance of the greatest nation in the history of the world.

What’s more is that it IS an incredible testimony that an American of African ancestry has been elected… popularly and constitutionally.

And now that an African American has been chosen as the president-elect, there is no excuse for ANYONE of ANY race not to strive for the best this nation has to offer. There can be no circumstance preventing the pursuit, and not the gift, of happiness.

That holds value to me as a patriot.

So congratulations, Mr. President-elect!

However…

I still do not trust that he will not lead us into a path towards socialism and that is unacceptable.

I still believe that he will fulfill every radical promise he made as that far left guy campaigning during the primaries.

I still believe that he doesn’t truly grasp the accountability and responsibility that he has been chosen to undertake.

So congratulations, Mr. President-elect!

Now to my fellow conservatives and conservative wannabees:

We have no one to blame but ourselves. We failed to prevent a moderate candidate from gaining the nomination. We failed by letting moderates and liberals hijack the Republican Party. We failed by letting pop culture rule our society instead of truth. We failed by getting caught up in the hype of an obligatory candidate who really didn’t deserve it. We failed by letting the press and the GOP dictate to us who our candidate would be.

We failed conservatism and by doing that we have failed our country.

There are some of you who have said that it took a Jimmy Carter to get a Ronald Reagan. And even though the merits of that statement are reassuring to us in the hopes for the future, they mean nothing without conservatives willing to stand up and take action for that future. And they mean nothing if there isn’t anything left of this nation for a true conservative in the mold of Reagan to be nominated.

Conservatives have got to back up conservative words WITH conservative actions. Conservatives have got to vet, choose, nominate and elect conservatives to public office AND HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE TO THOSE CONSERVATIVE IDEALS AND VALUES for which they were elected.

The election this year started something WE have got to continue. AND GOOD RIDDANCE! Conservatives have got to vote out those RINOs and ConWans who are compromising our nation by trying to appease all people.

If we want someone in the mold of Ronald Reagan, we have to work hard to show that conservatism is in the nation’s best interest for all people.

We have to act like conservatives who are proud Americans. We have to work in and of ourselves to show our fellow Americans that personal responsibility and accountability ARE the pursuit of happiness.

Frankly, John McCain did not inspire that. Yes, he is known for reaching across the aisle. But that is the crime of conservatism compromised. McCain would compromise to the left. The thing that made Reagan a great president of unity was that the compromise involved him getting the other side to reach across the aisle to work with him.

McCain chose to play it safe in the hopes of reaching independents. He took the conservative vote for granted before and after Sarah Palin was chosen as his veep pick.

And no, Sarah Palin shoulders no blame for this loss. Although, I am sure she would certainly hold herself accountable. But she was what brought conservative back into the GOP campaign. She is not perfect, folks, and there were so many that held her to an even higher standard than perfection. When she had a minor blemish, it was portrayed as a gaping and festering wound. Palin is an everyday American woman who was thrust into the national spotlight. Her political rise is one that can be compared to John Adams or Harry Truman. In my humble opinion, that is good company!

So congratulations, Mr. President-elect! You are what the American people wanted. We’ll see how long that lasts. I will pray for you when I pray for this country. And one of my prayers will be that God preserve this nation in spite of your presidency.

I still believe in this country

Nope. I am not thrilled about the results. And I still believe that this country has sung its swan song. And I thank the following states:

I don't "The Great Experiment" has now failed. But 232 years of fighting for liberty and freedom has taken a serious blow!

What's in a name? God knows.

We learned something incredible in Sunday School, and even with all of the election stuff going on, I haven’t been able to drop this. So I thought I’d put it down.

Let me start of by stating that I take no credit for any of this information. I honestly can’t give sources as they weren’t given to our class on Sunday.

My only prayer is that I am doing honor and giving glory to God in this presentation and that it be only as accurate as God directs me to impart.

Apparently, there are a ton of people I owe a big apology to. I cannot stand for anyone to say GD or JC without thought to the Creator of the Universe, or to use the name of that Creator as a curse word. I still believe it brings dishonor and displeasure to the LORD when we misuse those names. HOWEVER, my animosity towards this practice no longer comes from one of the Ten Commandments.

Nope, I am not disregarding one of God’s laws. However, there is a new understanding of what the Third Commandment actually means.

Exodus 20:7 is very familiar to us:

“Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.” KJV

One of those “thou shalts” that even has a “taketh.” Okay, let’s look at another translation.

“You shall not use or repeat the name of the LORD your God in vain [that is, lightly or frivolously, in false affirmations or profanely]; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.” AMP

This is a little better and even has that part about profanity, but let’s look at a more apropos translation.

"You must not use the name of the LORD your God thoughtlessly; the LORD will punish anyone who misuses his name.” NCV

Don’t use it thoughtlessly.

But use what thoughtlessly? God is a title after all and not a name. Did you notice that the word “lord” was in caps in each passage?

It’s the NAME of the LORD that is important here. We are supposed to pray in the “Name of the Lord.” But what is the actual name of the Lord?

When Moses meets God at the burning bush, the question of God’s name comes up:

“Then Moses said to God, "If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, 'What is his name?' what shall I say to them?" God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM." And he said, "Say this to the people of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.'" God also said to Moses, "Say this to the people of Israel, 'The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.' This is my name forever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations.” Exodus 3:13-15 ESV

This is one of the first verse in which the name of God was first mentioned. Translations include Elohim, Eloi, Jehovah, Adonai, and of course “Yahweh.”

Whenever the word ‘lord” is capitalized, it was usually substituted from the original Hebrew symbols for YHWH (of course, Hebrew is written backwards from English). Eventually the Greek translation added vowels and the pronunciation became YAH-weh. This is where the thoughtless use of the name comes into practice. I mean this by stating that the Greek letters we see as consonants were translated from Hebrew vowels.


Therefore, the sacred name of our LORD should be pronounced “Ya-HOO-eh” but with a very throaty sound, letting it flow as a breath. Most scholars say that there really wasn’t a true pronunciation of YHWH and that when God spake, it came out to Moses as a breath. The name of the Lord is pronounced by breathing. Every time we breathe, we are pronouncing His name. That means that every one in the world, Christian, Jew or other has heard the name of the Lord. A newborn is spanked to breath, pronouncing His name. And we all will have our last breath, pronouncing His name.

“So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” – John 20:21-22 NKJV

But going back to Genesis, let’s look at what God did when He created man:

“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” - Genesis 2:7 NKJV

The Lord spoke His name when He gave man life.

Furthermore, let’s go back just a little further in Genesis:

“So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him” – Genesis 1:27 NKJV

When you place the original Hebrew letters from top to bottom…

The Name of the Lord is the image of a man. And since we were made in His own image…

Every breath we take speaks His name and every thing we do is seen as His name.

Thank God for His Son, Jesus!

It really is getting down to CHANGE!

In a previous post, I quoted Patrick Henry, who said:

“[I]t is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth, and listen to the song of that siren till she transforms us into beasts.”

That quote is inspired by a bible verse: Hear this, O foolish and senseless people, who have eyes, but see not, who have ears, but hear not. – Jeremiah 5:21 (ESV)

Now the siren’s scream is being muffled by the truth of change. Barack Obama just can’t seem to exclude “change” when it comes to his tax policy.

So sorry to bother you, Senator...

Excuse me, Sir, my name is Columbo.

Ah . . . Sorry to bother you Mr. Obama, Sir. . .

Excuse me Mr. Obama, I mean Senator Obama, Sir. Um . . . I know you're busy and important and stuff. I mean running for president is very important and -- ah -- I hate to bother you Sir. I will only take a minute. Ok Sir?

See, I have these missing pieces that are holding me up, and I was wondering sir, if you could take time out of your busy schedule and help me out. You know... no big deal, just some loose ends and things.

Hey, you have a nice place here! The wife sees houses like this on TV all the time and says boy she wishes she had digs like this you know?

Oh, sorry Sir. I didn't mean to get off the track. So if you could just help me out a minute and give me some details, I will get right out of your way. I want to close this case and maybe take the wife to Coney Island or something. Ever been to Coney Island Sir? No? I didn't think so.

The group's ties to Obama are extensive

Acorn, the liberal "community organizing" group that claims it will deploy 15,000 get-out-the-vote workers on Election Day, can't stay out of the news.

The FBI is investigating its voter registration efforts in several states, amid allegations that almost a third of the 1.3 million cards it turned in are invalid. And yesterday, a former employee of Acorn testified in a Pennsylvania state court that the group's quality-control efforts were "minimal or nonexistent" and largely window dressing. Anita MonCrief also says that Acorn was given lists of potential donors by several Democratic presidential campaigns, including that of Barack Obama, to troll for contributions.

The Obama campaign denies it "has any ties" to Acorn, but Mr. Obama's ties are extensive. In 1992 he headed a registration effort for Project Vote, an Acorn partner at the time. He did so well that he was made a top trainer for Acorn's Chicago conferences. In 1995, he represented Acorn in a key case upholding the constitutionality of the new Motor Voter Act -- the first law passed by the Clinton administration -- which created the mandated, nationwide postcard voter registration system that Acorn workers are using to flood election offices with bogus registrations.

Ms. MonCrief testified that in November 2007 Project Vote development director Karyn Gillette told her she had direct contact with the Obama campaign and had obtained their donor lists. Ms. MonCrief also testified she was given a spreadsheet to use in cultivating Obama donors who had maxed out on donations to the candidate, but who could contribute to voter registration efforts. Project Vote calls the allegation "absolutely false."

She says that when she had trouble with what appeared to be duplicate names on the list, Ms. Gillette told her she would talk with the Obama campaign and get a better version. Ms. MonCrief has given me copies of the donor lists she says were obtained from other Democratic campaigns, as well as the 2004 DNC donor lists.

In her testimony, Ms. MonCrief says she was upset by Acorn's "Muscle for Money" program, which she said intimidated businesses Acorn opposed into paying "protection" money in the form of grants. Acorn's Brian Kettering says the group only wants to change corporate behavior: "Acorn is proud of its corporate campaigns to stop abuses of working families."

Ms. MonCrief, 29, never expected to testify in a case brought by the state's Republican Party seeking the local Acorn affiliate's voter registration lists. An idealistic graduate of the University of Alabama, she joined Project Vote in 2005 because she thought it was empowering poor people. A strategic consultant for Acorn and a development associate with its Project Vote voter registration affiliate, Ms. MonCrief sat in on policy-making meetings with the national staff. She was fired early this year over personal expenses she had put on the group's credit card.

She says she became disillusioned because she saw that Acorn was run as the personal fiefdom of Wade Rathke, who founded the group in 1970 and ran it until he stepped down to take over its international operations this summer. Mr. Rathke's departure as head of Acorn came after revelations he'd employed his brother Dale for a decade while keeping from almost all of Acorn's board members the fact that Dale had embezzled over $1 million from the group a decade ago. (The embezzlement was confirmed to me by an Acorn official.)

"Anyone who questioned what was going on was viewed as the enemy," Ms. MonCrief told me. "Just like the mob, no one leaves Acorn happily." She believes the organization does some good but hopes its current leadership is replaced. She may not be alone.

Last August two of Acorn's eight dissident board members, Marcel Reed and Karen Inman, filed suit demanding access to financial records of Citizens Consulting Inc., the umbrella group through which most of Acorn's money flows. Ms. Inman told a news conference this month Mr. Rathke still exercises power over CCI and Acorn against the board's wishes. Bertha Lewis, the interim head of Acorn, told me Mr. Rathke has no ties to Acorn and that the dissident board members were "obsessed" and "confused."

According to public records, the IRS filed three tax liens totaling almost $1 million against Acorn this spring. Also this spring, CCI was paid $832,000 by the Obama campaign for get-out-the-vote efforts in key primary states. In filings with the Federal Election Commission, the Obama campaign listed the payments as "staging, sound, lighting," only correcting the filings after the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review revealed their true nature.

"Acorn needs a full forensic audit," Ms. MonCrief says, though she doesn't think that's likely. "Everyone wants to paper things over until later," she says. "But it may be too late to reform Acorn then." She strongly supports Barack Obama and hopes his allies can be helpful in cleaning up the group "after the heat of the election is gone."

Acorn's Mr. Kettering says the GOP lawsuit "is designed to suppress legitimate voters," and he says Ms. MonCrief isn't credible, given that she was fired for cause. Ms. MonCrief admits that she left after she began paying back some $3,000 in personal expenses she charged on an Acorn credit card. "I was very sorry, and I was paying it back," she says, but "suddenly Acorn decided that . . . I had to go. Since then I have gotten warnings to 'back off' from people at Acorn."

Acorn insists it operates with strict quality controls, turning in, as required by law, all registration forms "even if the name on them was Donald Duck," as Wade Rathke told me two years ago. Acorn whistleblowers tell a different story.

"There's no quality control on purpose, no checks and balances," says Nate Toler, who worked until 2006 as the head organizer of an Acorn campaign against Wal-Mart in California. And Ms. MonCrief says it is longstanding practice to blame bogus registrations on lower-level employees who then often face criminal charges, a practice she says Acorn internally calls "throwing folks under the bus."

Gregory Hall, a former Acorn employee, says he was told on his very first day in 2006 to engage in deceptive fund-raising tactics. Mr. Hall has founded a group called Speaking Truth to Power to push for a full airing of Acorn's problems "so the group can heal itself from within."

To date, Mr. Obama has declined to criticize Acorn, telling reporters this month he is happy with his own get-out-the-vote efforts and that "we don't need Acorn's help." That may be true. But there is no denying his ties with Acorn helped turbocharge his political career.

Lastly, Obama discusses an economic “common ground” that would be mutually beneficial to everybody. And then there is Reverend Jeremiah Wright – BEFORE the bus tire skid marks. Wright is described as a “wonderful man,” who helps Obama discover his own faith, “Which is not necessarily a traditional faith.” He learns to cherish the “hope” and “liberation that is embodied in the historically African American Church.” He then states that Wright “represents the best of what the black church has to offer.”
